Workplace Conflict Resolution Services
The Director of Informal Resolution Services will:
- Provide a respectful, *confidential, and impartial space for individuals to discuss concerns.
- Help clarify issues and interests, identify goals, and develop a range of options for resolution.
- Coach individuals on how to manage a difficult situation or engage in a difficult conversation.
- Conduct mediations/facilitated conversations between individuals in conflict.
- Offer trainings on conflict resolution skills and practical tools.
*Confidentiality:
The Director of Informal Resolution Services will keep confidential your identity and the information you share unless given permission to reveal specific issues to specific persons for the purpose of resolving the conflict. If mediation is requested, the Director of Informal Resolution Services will run a conflict check with designated officials and may share any agreement reached for approval.
Any disclosure to the Director of Informal Resolution Services, either in person or in writing, is strictly off-the-record and does not constitute a formal report of wrongdoing.
Contacting the Director of Informal Resolution Services is not a step in any grievance process. Thus, conversations with the Director of Informal Resolution Services do not constitute notice to the University of any claims a visitor may have.
Anyone who wishes to put the University on notice should invoke a formal grievance process, and the Director of Informal Resolution Services can provide referral information about whom to contact.
Exceptions to confidentiality: Imminent risk of harm to self or others; allegations of sexual assault or sexual harassment; illegal activities; or when required by law.
